Hello! My name is Jen and I’m a multidisciplinary artist and gardener living in Portland, Oregon.
Descended from a long line of flower enthusiasts—including my great-great grandfather who was a horticulturalist and flower farmer—I’ve always dreamt of having a garden of my own. Today I live in a tiny white house—with my husband and two cats—on a 5000 sq ft plot filled with flowers.
My cottage garden provide endless inspiration and provides a grounded sense of place in this world. Flowers have always been a source of joy, otherworldly beauty and wonder. I chose the name ‘The Flower Wife’ after listening to an old Scottish reel (dance song) called ‘The Oyster Wives’ Rant.’ I thought, if you can be an oyster wife, couldn’t you be a flower wife too?
Besides tending my garden and arranging flowers, I’m a printmaker, collage artist and wannabe ceramicist who obsessively delves into the history of women makers, domestic arts, nature and folklore.
